J-14 Magazine spoke with Zac Efron about his movie career, including his upcoming movie 17 Again in this months magazine.
J-14: What was your high school experience like?
Zac: High school was one of the happiest, scariest, intense, and confusing times. Everything seemed amplified. You become hyper-aware of where you are in the social hierarchy at school. In my sophomore year, I realized I wasn’t at all the coolest kid in school – and it wasn’t something I aspired to be.
J-14: What kind of things mattered to you at 17?
Zac: I focused more on my grades and things like that. I had my core group of friends and we were inseparable.
J-14: How was it going back to school for 17 Again (the movie)?
Zac: Honestly, going back to high school in the movie was scary. Being on the campus felt like I was going back in time – all the little habits started to come back. I’d be walking through the students and there would be that huge 7;2: kid that could punch you out at any time. You can’t help but have a couple of those insecurities come back. All of high school was akward – I’m glad I don’t have to go back!
J-14: What would you tell the 17-year-old version of yourself now?
Zac: Live life to the fullest each and every day. That’s very important to remember when you’re 17. It would help to hear it from the 21-year-old version of yourself!
