Zac Efron was interviewed by GQ magazine for their May issue. He had numerous things to say about hiding from the photogs, his High School Musical products, his acting, his parents, about his motivation, and about the rumor that he was going to get married to girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens.
Zac has hiding from the photogs down to a science, he says “I’ve kinda got it figured out. I just pull in to the lot and they can’t follow me. The first time I did it, they weren’t going to let me in. The guy at the gate was like, ‘What are you gonna do for me?’ I said, ‘What do you want me to do?’ He’s like, ‘I got kids.’ And I was like, ‘Well, I got a poster in the trunk!’ It’s smart to keep some swag in the trunk, just in case.”
When asked if he keeps around a lot of the toys, dolls and posters from High School Musical with his face on them he says, “In the house? Oh, hell no. It’s in the garage. And then a lot of it’s at my parents’.” Zac has such a potty mouth throughout the entire interview! Tsk tsk!
He also talks about the type of acting he does, and the type he wants to do, “It’s such a fine line between being famous for who you are personally and for your films. And I’ve been on the wrong side of it my whole career.” Why does it feel like our Zac is pushing his fans away all the time! C’mon Zac, we all love you, stop saying you don’t want us to love you for you! He continues by saying, “I don’t want to be famous for my personality. If anything, I keep that under wraps.”
Zac even talks about his parents, and how they work with him to keep him grounded, saying, “They’re both pessimists. They’ll give it to you real. They don’t blow you up with excess confidence. I didn’t grow up thinking I was the greatest kid in the world. And they completely believed that there was a one-in-a-billion chance I would ever be successful. And that was ingrained in the back of my head: I will fail. I’m going to fail. They managed my expectations. I was always prepared to fail. So it was kind of confusing when things started to work out.”
In terms of his motivation, Zac says, “I never half-ass anything. And every time I do, it always comes back to haunt me. Whatever I’m focused on is what I will succeed at. When I was in school, I told myself I’d get good grades, and I got great grades. And when I started doing this—you learn. You can’t help but recognize what the people that are better than you do. Every film is a challenge. You have to acquire new skills. You have to put your ass out there. And that’s what I wanna do next.”
About getting married, he says, “That was such bullshit. I’m definitely not getting married. In this business, you’re either getting married or they want you to be pregnant. I’m not getting married until I’m 40. If ever. The thought never crossed my mind.”
After pausing a few seconds, maybe realizing that girlfriend Baby V would be really upset about this answer, he says, “Maybe not 40. Maybe not until I’m 30.”

So disappointed in him…I really just don’t like him anymore…I understand wanting to separate from the HSM/Disney image, but he has to remember, he DID get his big break from Disney and the majority of his fan base is kids, and they will pick up any magazine he’s in and believe anything he says…he needs better PR or something…lol

Thats just not right. I used to like Zac Efron and highschool musical. I never thought that zac cussed and talked bad like he’s all tough and stuff. I just want the old zac back, the one I saw in highschool music and on. you know, but all movies aren’t true. They give you messsages, and the message here is certainly that Zac efron has become a total different person now. But oh well, he’s alright. Maybe if he learns some respect for everyone–eveen his parents. Though his parents like, didn’t seem to be good parents, there’s a word called Forgiving. There’s a word called Love. There’s a savior called God. I don’t know if he’s a christian or not, but he doesn’t portray it. And let me tell you something, God can do many incredible things in your life.
