This week in 1915 actor Ben Wright was born. Ben lent his voice to the character Grimsby in The Little Mermaid and to the wolf character in Disney’s The Jungle Book. The next year, in 1916, the voice actor for Snow White, Adriana Caselotti, was born in Connecticut.
With 1917 came the birth of one of our favorite Disney legends, David Tomlinson who played George Banks in Mary Poppins, Thorndyke in The Love Bug and Emelius Brown in Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
Skip ahead a few years to 1926 and you find the birth of Don Rickles who was the voice of Mr. Potato Head in the Toy Story movies. And in 1927 the voice of The Little Mermaid’s Ursula, Pat Carroll, was born.
In 1929 the singer of such Disney classics as Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes, and So This is Love, Ilene Woods, was born in New Hampshire.
And here’s something that is REALLY interesting! The voice of Minnie Mouse, Russi Taylor was born this week in 1944 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, but that’s not the interesting part. It turns out that Russi is married to none other than Wayne Allwine, who is the voice of Mickey Mouse! How cute!
Ever been to Disneyland? If so, you’ve visited the area of the park called Tomorrowland. Did you know that Space Mountain was born this week in 1977?
In 1994 the voice of Finding Nemo and Bambi (in Bambi II) is born, Alexander Gould. Ten years later in 2004 Disneyland opened the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
