Ever since Zac Efron dropped out of the remake of the movie Footloose, Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford has been begging for the part – and it looks like that pleading paid off! The movies production company Paramount Pictures has confirmed that Chace has received the lead role of Ren in the film.

Disney has a hand in the movie as well as their very own Kenny Ortega will be directing the film and the dancing. Kenny was the director of our favorite Disney Channel Original Movies High School Musical and HSM 2 as well as the on-the-big-screen film High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

And the Disney news doesn’t just stop there. Kenny is still deciding who will play the lead female role in the movie, but rumor is that Miss Miley Cyrus is being considered for the part. Other ladies being considered are Amanda Bynes, Hayden Panettiere and Julianne Hough from Dancing With the Stars.
