Justin Gaston posted this video of him covering the song “Yesterday” by the Beatles on his YouTube account this week. The song was originally recorded in 1965 for the Beatles album “Help!” According to the Guinness Book of Records the song “Yesterday” has had more cover versions written of it than any other song – so congrats to Justy for his originality (jk).
The song is actually about a bad break-up, so hopefully Justin isn’t trying to tell us something about himself and Miley Cyrus.
Tuesday night Taylor Swift attended the 57th Pop Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, California. Her song “Teardrops on My Guitar” was among the 50 most performed pop songs of the year and was recognized at the event.
Taylor also received another honor though! She was presented the President’s Award from the Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) organization. This award honors “an exceptional individual in the entertainment industry deserving of special recognition,” and is presented “only when an individual has distinctly and profoundly influenced the industry.”
Congrats Taylor!
Ashley Tisdale looks much younger than usual on the July 2009 cover of the UK’s Sugar magazine. 23-year-old A.Tis has been looking older and older in every picture we see of her, but obviously Sugar wanted to show her a bit younger for their fans.
Inside the magazine A.Tis talks about her upcoming album “Guilty Pleasure” which hits stores on June 16. Ashley also talks about leaving behind her High School Musical character Sharpay Evans. We already know Ashely dyed her hair brown to get away from the role, but we’ll get to find out what else she has done to move away from the “Disney-image.”
A.Tis says, “People only know me as my character [Sharpay]. So I’ve changed my hair and brought out the edgier me that I’ve never had the chance to express. I’m not trying to run away from HSM but I am growing up.”
Even though it’s the July issue of the magazine, you can find it on news stands next week on the 27th.
The Cannes Film Festival is currently going on and Disney’s upcoming film “A Christmas Carol” debuted at the event. Jim Carrey plays the character Ebenezer Scrooge.
Jim pulled up to the premiere in style with his girlfriend Jenny McCarthy. The two rolled up in a horse-drawn carriage and spent time playing in the fake snow powder that was hauled in for the premiere. How cute!
Disney is hoping to make some serious money off of this movie during the holidays – yes, holidays, as in months and months away from now! The Walt Disney Company has heavily planned a 7 month promotional campaign tour for the movie which includes a train tour across the United States. The film is due to release in theaters in November, but the campaign begins this weekend in Los Angeles, California.
In each city the tour takes Jim Carrey and the other actors, residents will have the opportunity to see a free behind-the-scenes look at the film.
