As of this month Country Music artists will be taking a new statistic into account when they try to figure out which artist has the most popularity – Twitter! Not only will the music industry be looking at how many sales an artist makes of their albums and concert tickets, looking at where they fall on singles charts and how many awards they win, they will now take the number of Twitter followers of each artist into account. Which easily puts Miss Miley Cyrus in the lead and Taylor Swift not far behind her.

The only problem we see is that many artists do not want to be on Twitter, so do they get a big zero on their score card for that or do the raters take that into account when measuring popularity of the stars?

- Taylor Swift with 570,106 followers
- Billy Ray Cyrus with 78,036 followers
- Keith Urban with 25,507 followers
- Kellie Pickler with 24,082 followers
- LeAnn Rimes with 23,420 followers
- Julianne Hough with 15,663 followers
- Rascal Flatts with 15,528 followers
- Martina McBride with 15,502 followers
- Willie Nelson with 13,759 followers

Although, you would have no idea that Miss Miley was number one in popularity if you looked at how few people showed up to her casting call for her movie “The Last Song,” yikes!
