Demi Lovato has been quickly moving up the Disney ladder of popularity, and a lot of the reason for that is her management. At photo shoots Demi’s management always keeps the mistakes of Demi’s fellow Disney Star Miley Cyrus in mind when they determine what she can wear and what she can’t.
Even if Demi comes out of a dressing room with an outfit she absolutely adores, her management has the right to veto anything she says to make it as kid-friendly as possible – something parents really appreciate about the Disney Celebrity.
A lot of those people against Miley Cyrus, and her scandalous photo shoots, are parents. And these parents values rub off onto their children, who then in turn think that Miley isn’t the best of role models. But by Demi keeping herself a positive role model for young teens and tweens parents are telling their kids that it is great for them to look up to her and act, dress and be like her.
While Demi says her album is more mature than the last CD she released, her management still made sure she released songs that wouldn’t upset parents. Demi was allowed to release more personal songs, but most of them are just about heartbreak and love.
Demi had written a song about her estranged father that was planned to be on the album, but her management decided to hold back as they felt it might be a touchy subject for families to try to explain to their children. Demi says, “When I took a step back, I realized I wouldn’t like those subjects being talked about in somebody else’s home, with a seven-year-old and their mom.”
A lot of what Demi thinks about is if she would want her younger sister to see and hear the things she does, if the answer is no then she wont do them. She doesn’t want her sister wearing really short skirts, so she wont wear them. She doesn’t want her sister concerned with highly emotional songs, so she wont put them on her albums. We really respect her decision to do this…do you?

I definitely agree. Yet another reason why even as a 20 year old dude, I love Demi as a role model- for my younger sister, my younger brother, any teen for that matter!
I look up to Demi ALOT. and I’m only 11 and I know shes 5 years older than me. When she wears a dress thzat’s kind of short I know I shouldn’t wear one. She’s a teen ager and she could wear whatever she wants talk about whatever she wants and whatever she does I respect I respect ,but doesn’t necissarily mean I will do them. I LOVE DEMI LOVATO <3 =)
I think its Demi Lovatos expirences and she should do what she wants with her life.Disney channel isnt for kids more like teens. So its her life
i totally agree :]
but demi should
just have a day
when she can wear
anything she wants.
and for miley,
FOLLOW DEMI!!!
short shorts?
yeah and ur mostly
for kids and teens.
yeah ik ur a teen.
and most teens wear short
shorts, but demi doesn’t
y can’t u just follow demi’s
lead!?! yeah miley.
ur a great role model :]
yeah and im asian,
and the asian eyes
stop singing and acting!
ur voice sounds gay
and ur regular voice(speaking)
sounds like a cat dying!
I completely disagree demi clearly works hard and writes beautiful music it really shouldnt matter what her management thinks i mean i get where people come from about the younger children thing but did anyone think about the kids who grew up without a dad, did anyone think that hearing the song and knowing that demi lovato could grow up to be such a great person without her dad would give them hope and show the that they could grow up to be a great person too
Demi is a really good role model,
as a teenager I look up to her even though she is a year older.
Girls should look up to her she is amazing and honest,
I think she is never going to be last weeks news,
she inspires young girls on how to be positive and to love yourself and not care what others think,
as for miley cyrus I think she is very immature no matter how hard she tries to act grown up,
she really gets on my nerves and If Disney would fire her it would bring joy to the world.
I would certainly like to contact Demi Lovato’s management regarding the impact that cancelling her show had on my nine-year old daughter. We cut our vacation with family short and travelled a long distance out of our way to be on time to her concert 8/24 in Manchester,NH; It has been a difficult year for my daughter and circumstances required that we move a long way from family; during this time, my daughter really began to relate with Demi’s songs. This was the first trip back to see her family and it meant the world to her. I had bought the tickets and was excited that the first concert my daughter would experience would be one with music she really appreciated. It was a consolation leaving NY. During the long car ride, she began to cry as she has been very lonely since we moved. I played Demi’s songs for her and she began to recover as we got closer to the arena. Needless to say, the disappointment she felt at hearing the concert had been cancelled and we had changed all of our plans for nothing was immense. Even though the representative at the ticket counter says the tickets we have will be honored in October, I can’t help but feel mistreated. The time, energy, money and emotional results of this are considerable. Her first concert experience has been negative and she feels really let down by Demi.. I think that if the management were truly concerned about how Demi’s appearance effects her fans they also need to address the responsibility they have to children like my daughter who was let down by her.
I don’t think she should have to do this. She shouldn’t have to dress like a 7 year old because she has 7 year old fans. She’s 17, so should be able to act her age. I’m 17 and my sister i s 7, but even though i wear short skirts, she can still look up to me as a role model becuase she understands that i’m much older what’s appropriate for me might not be for her. Young fans should look up to her and think that’s what i want to be when i’m her age, not that’s who i’m going to be now.
i just think it’s disgusting they’re taking away a 17 year olds own rights away. She’s a human being. she can wear what she wants. Her management need to remember she’s a teenager!
This is a bunch of crap. Censorship like this is just another way to get people distracted on what is really going on. “Kid friendly” my butt, they just want to make a dollar off of the uptight christian families.
Demi wrote a song about her Estranged father and it was denied because “they felt it might be a touchy subject for families to try to explain to their children.” that’s a load of crap. more like “If it doesn’t fit in our cookie cutter recipe of how to make a song sell, then don’t release it.” then they can blame it on “Morals” which are made up standards created by companies pushed upon normal people, so they can SELL “moral and appropriate” products.
this whole article is like a pamphlet on how to get people to give up their rights and make them feel good about it.
it disgusts me.
