Princess Protection Program Review

Disneys Princess Protection Program Review

First off, let us start by saying that we LOVED Princess Protection Program. We thought it was a great addition to the collection of the Disney Channel Original Movies, and we can absolutely see how it was the third most viewed DCOM of all time!

We thought Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato were perfect together, and you could really see that they enjoyed spending time together on the set. The rest of the cast was really cute, but was very overshadowed by Demi and Selena.

Selena plays the part of Carter, who’s dad is part of the Princess Protection Program. In his spare time he runs a bait shop in their town in Louisianan, which is where Carter spends her time working when she is not at school. At school she is not one of the popular kids, and in fact she gets picked on a lot.

When Carter’s dad has to go on a mission she is so excited when he returns home, that is, until she finds out he brought a princess, Rosie, home with him. Rosie is played by Demi, and has to spend time hiding out at Carter’s home because she was threatened in her country by a man who wanted to take the crown away from her.

Carter and Rosie have to pretend to be cousins, which is something Carter has a hard time with because Rosie doesn’t blend in well at school.

The entire movie is summed up by the moral that anyone can be a princess, and that a princess should be a role model. Carter and Rosie bond together while going bowling with the kids at school, trying new jobs, and being voted for Prom Queen.

We loved that Demi’s sister Madison made a cameo in the film! She was one of the kids sitting in a circle around Demi as her character, Rosie, read a book to a classroom.

We also have some very interesting information about some of the scenes that were shot. Because Demi and Selena are under 18 they can legally only work 10 hours a day. Because of this it was sometimes necessary for the directors to use stand ins for some scenes that the girls couldn’t show up for because they had already worked too much for the day. One scene was when Demi screams because she sees a lizard and Selena picks it up for her – it isn’t Selena’s hand in the close up!!! Watch the movie again and let us know if you notice it!

As we predicted, before even seeing the movie, there is a high possibility of a sequel being made because of the way the directors left the movie hanging in the end. We see that both Selena and Demi have been initiated as members of the Princess Protection Program and that they are being sent on a mission. This definitely makes a Princess Protection Program 2 very, very possible.
