Disney artists and sisters Aly and AJ Michalka have just announced on Twitter that their band name has changed from “Aly & AJ” to “78 Violet.”
We are a little unsure why Hollywood Records would confirm a name change that would confuse fans, or maybe it’s just us that it confuses. We’re always going to be typing in Aly & AJ to find their music in iTunes and on the web, not 78 Violet!

To be honest. I don’t like the name change, it just doesn’t really fit, them very well. Of course I will always support them but this new name will take some getting used to. I just hope that they don’t disappear if it turns out their new album doesn’t sell. What I mean is I don’t want them just to be actors I want them to be singers as well. It just confuses me that Hollywood records would let them change their name under the hollywood records later, since they have so many other disney clients under that label. At least the it will still be them on the album. I just still think it makes me feel a little uncomfortable that I will need to say 78 violet instead of Aly & AJ. In my opinion they will always be Aly & AJ in my heart. I wish them luck with their new name.
i really love aly and aj better!! i mean, usually theres a meaning behind a band name, but 78 violet? well, srry… i dont think its fair!! i think you guys should keep aly and aj and i hope thats the band name i find on your new record [=

They’ve been ALy & AJ too long. The name 78 Violet isn’t means everything about them. I don’t like that name
