Miley Cyrus Pole

According to Newsday.com a spokesperson for the Disney Channel has released a statement in regards to Miley Cyrus’ performance last night at the Teen Choice Awards 2009.

During the awards show Miley performed her most recent song “Party in the USA.” While she performed her backup dancers brought out an ice-cream part, intact with a pole, for Miley to stand on and dance while she continued performing.

Parents have been in outrage about the performance, so much so that the Disney Channel realized they had to release a statement about it.

The representative for the network said: “Disney Channel won’t be commenting on that performance, although parents can rest assured that all content presented on the Disney Channel is age-appropriate for our audience — kids 6-14 — and consistent with what our brand values are.”

Yikes! Thoughts?

  2. shes just tryin 2 be attractive but its trashy

  3. read about this on mtv. Very interesting and I dont blame em!

  4. OMG. Mileys parents need to take control of their daughter, no wonder she has stalker, she just puts her body out there! She is NO role model for ANY kid.

  5. HA HA HA HA HA THAT’S WHAT SHE GETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT RETARDED LLAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Okay honestly, I watched the show, and from what I could see, the pole was there for her to hold on to because they were moving the cart while she was standing on it. She danced on it like, once. Give her a break! Who criticized Beyonce for doing a video barely clothed? No one. Miley is an up and coming star, and she deserves our respect, not our petty criticism of her performances. Go Miley! :)

  7. they took the pic at the wrong time. I don’t think miley would do that but if she did they are right.

  8. I really don’t like Miley Cyrus! But I think the pole was just for balance because she was standing on the ice cream cart while it was moving. Thats a bad picture of her where (if you didn’t see the TCA) you would think that she is doing something bad. But I don’t believe that she is a role model for anyone!

  9. um ok first of all she didnt even move on the pole and she’s not a wh*** u guys need to like stop trying to tell her what she can and cant wear and this website is lying anyway bcuz they were rlly impresed cuz i watched it and not everyone is a role model so back of :)

  10. to be honest i think all the American teen stars are like that im not allowed to wear sleeveless so its a little slu*** for me but if its about the clothing all Americans are tarts shes worn stuff like that before it not that i support her shes a great singer but shes too big for her boots everything’s not about her

  11. im a little confused though are why are poles inappropriate

  12. who cares…disney is kid and miley isn’t a kid anymore…she dones’t even want to be called a kid….just leave her alone people for real its sad pick on someone else….

  13. she was holding onto the pole for balance cuz the ice cream cart was moving. give her a break!!!

  14. i dont think its a its a big deal she did it at the amas but she wasnt so close. i think shes just growing up and wants to be seen like one

  15. I don’t understand why ppl were making such a big fuss of how Miley dressed!! I am born and raise in a Muslim country and I have seen teens worn more daring attires than that. I would suggest those ppl who cast the first stone to move to Afganistan or Saudi Arabia. Like to see you and your daughters wearing burka!! Pole dancing is unacceptable? If you think it is disgusting, that’s because you are judging thing by your own standard, with dirty minds.

  16. your all cooked in the had. seriously leave the girl alone and look in the mirror. you prob all act like that. miley is one of the best disney people out there.

  17. Okay to the other Kate who posted before the reason why no one critisises Beyonce when she dances barely clothed is because Beyonce is a grown woman and Miley is a 16 year old girl who is a role model for many young girls out there and I’m pretty sure that if I had a daughter i would not like her to look up to Miley. She needs to get her act together no more skanky photos and outfits she really needs to get a clue. Yes I agree it must be hard for her because people are always making fun of her but if she wants to be famous she better deal with it because thats part of the fame and I refuse to respect someone who has a big lack of immaturity and I’m younger than her and I can say that I will never want to act like her she really needs her parents to step in and help her or she will turn into a gone round dinsney star like Lindsay Lohan and Britnay Spears

  18. hey kampong girl im a Muslim too and the girls you see probably arent muslims if they are then im ashamed to see non muslims sharing our name on another site a lot of people were saying im 13 im 14 i wear stuff worse than that you should see girls in the mall dressed nuder u should see our parties bla bla bla well some of u seem very proud to be dressing trashy and giving a disgusting look of your society i say that u should have come to your senses at the first sign that shes a bad role model and just left her alone see then no one would think shes a role model and they wouldnt care what s he did the 9 percent who look at her as a role model only follow the good stuff about her as theres good to be taken from EVERYBODY mileys lost a lot of fans cuz of this stuff but it is kinda entertaining and i idk whats she gonna do next

  19. oh and pole dancing is disgusting but miley wasnt pole dancing if selena did it it wouldnt look so bad since she wouldnt be in her underwear:)

  20. it reallllllllly makes me laugh how you haters ACTUALLY think your effecting her when you say all that crap :) wow. lol. miley is a sweet, talented girl who deserves respect :) miley, you’re my hero! :)

  21. SHUT UP ! its a free country and miley has every right kaay !

  22. No Miley doesn’t have the right at her age. She is not 18. Where is her Dad? doing her book-keeping? She does not have the right to be a role-model for thousands and thousands of young girls who love her and will look at her behaviour and consider it “the thing to do”. Compare her to grown-up when she is a grown up, until then she is a kids. Shame on Disney for sitting on the fence on this one. Money is not everything… but i guess for some it is more important than values and the line between child and adult.
