In an interview with Access Hollywood, Miley Cyrus’ dad Billy Ray Cyrus defended Miley’s choice to dance while holding onto a pole at this years Teen Choice Awards. The Disney Channel even refused to comment on the performance, and we know that many parents were up in arms against Miley afterward because they believe that Miley should try harder to be a role model.
But many of you have no problem with her performance and think she did nothing wrong. So many diverse opinions!
Here’s what Billy Ray had to say: “You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people. She loves singing [and] songwriting. I always tell her to love what you’re doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion. I give my kids a lot of freedom to make the art they wanna make, and make it in their own voice. I think it’s important.”

I think it is no big deal if she were actually swinging around on the pole it was a top of an icecream truck! So leave her alone its a cute song and i really liked the dance she is not a stripper so get over please and leave her alone let her grow up we all cant stay with disney that rest of their lives so let them grow up:)
The pole wasn’t a big deal.
Heck, even Bill o Reilly said he has no problem with it.
As he said, “She was dancing on top of a moving truck! She had to hold onto something!”
My only ONLY problem was and is how short her shorts were. I know a ton of girls wear stuff like that, but those other girls aren’t role models to millions of little girls from age 4 all the way to 18.
I think that whole thing was sprung out of proportion! It really semmed as though miley just held onto the pole for support. People really just need to give miley a break!):
It was NO BIG DEAL! she was having fun and didn’t do much. She didn’t take off any clothes or try to trase anyone, so people need to stop. I’ve seen worse on t.v. , people need to stop hateing on Miley (and Disney Stars). And you can quote me on that! (I’ve always wanted to say that.)

No matter what anyone says, I’m sorry, it is simply INNAPROPRIATE for someone 16, who works for Disney, to be dancing on a pole with underwear shorts on. No one needs to see it! Hilary Duff, Raven Simone, and Tia & Tamara were good examples when they worked for Disney..and even though they are adults, they have YET to dance on a stripper pole in public. But it doesn’t suprise me. Miley’s mistakes are uncountable. She simply doesn’t care about her “rep”. And if she doesn’t, why should we?

Miley is supposed to be a role model, since she works for disney, I mean c’mon, the girl pratically wears underwear on the stage! And let me tell you, she’s probably proud to be called the next britney spears cause she’s planning to shave her head too ;D
It was wildly inappropriate, the last thing I would want is for my younger sisters to imitate that kind of behavior, especially if they were to wear similar clothing. It’s one thing for Miley to do it – people know she’s an entertainer – but for little kids to imitate that is going to bring them the wrong kind of attention. And Miley (and her parents) should realize that she’s someone kids look up to and imitate, whether she likes that or not.

I don’t think she was trying to pole dance, as everyone says. She did need more coverup, reguarding her clothes. I know she is 16 but I think of her as being a sensible young lady, not trashy like all the other stars out there. I know she is maturing and trying to figure her self out but she is in the public eye. That is pay when you decide to be a star and she does need to watch her self because she is romodel, like it or not. I do like her. I like her show and some of her music, especially the climb. I think she can be great as long as she is clean and wholesome with it. There are alot of people out there to support her. She doesnt need to become somthing bigger.. she is big enough already.. and she has her wholesome crowd that has brought her this far… I hope they think of that… and realize it.

For starts, don’t think i’m hating on miley, because i’m not, i’m just a fan like the rest of you out there, but as also a 16 year old girl i am also maturing and growing up, i don’t feel the need to walk around in short shorts or have a photoshoot with only a sheet on but HEY, it is HER LIFE not ours, we do not live through these celebrities, what we are reading and writing here has no relevance what so ever, we can bitch about Miley and every other person that we want but noone cares, this is pointless and a waste of time.
Miley Cyrus is a talented teenager who has been incredibly lucky and used her opportunities well, she can do what she wants, wear what she wants, sing, act, talk, pick her nose even, how she wants to, it’s called Human Rights! not everyone is the same, not everyone has the same ideas, beliefs, values but we are all human, it hurts to be talked about in horrible ways like this and it’s wonderful to be complimented, we just all need to grow up and realise this.
Remember, she is a person with skin, brain, heart and soul, just like you and me, we all make mistakes because this is how we learn, give her a break, sh’es a wonderful, lovely person, give her some dignity and respect.
