Last night we tuned in along with many of you to check out the new Disney Channel Original Movie “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie.” The film starred some of our favorite Disney Celebrities including Selena Gomez, David Henrie and Jake T Austin.
In the beginning of the movie, Selena’s character, Alex Russo, is upset with her mom for not letting her do all of the things she wants, like going to parties and staying over her friends house. Alex’s mom makes her go on a family vacation – something Alex is not too pleased about – and the whole experience turns sour!
Alex is so upset that she has been forced to go on vacation that she wishes that her mom and dad had never met! At the same time she is holding onto the Family Wand and her wish comes true – yikes!
Alex realizes that her parents no longer remember each other, or her and her brothers (played by David and Jake). The siblings have to work together to track down the magic Stone of Dreams which can grant anyone one wish. Alex’s wish is to take back everything she said and make her life go back to the way it was.
In the movie David plays the character of Justin Russo, while Jake plays Max Russo. Jennifer Stone also appears in the beginning of the film as Alex’s friend Harper. As in the Disney Channel Original Series Wizards of Waverly Place Alex’s mother, Theresa, is played by Maria Canals-Barrera and Alex’s father, Jerry, is played by David DeLuise.
As we mentioned previously Alex’s crush at the beginning, Javier, is played by Xavier Torres.
The villain in the movie, as every Disney movie must have one, is played by a parrot who sits on the shoulder of an aspiring magician. The parrot has promised the magician that if he helps her find the stone of dreams to turn her back into the beautiful human that she once was they will be able to have a blossoming relationship. However we find out at the end that this is a lie!
While Alex and Justin trek through the jungle with the magician and parrot in search of the Stone of Dreams, Max must work to keep his parents from meeting other people and falling in love.
We thought that “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie” was extremely well made for a Disney Channel Original Movie, especially when it comes to special effects. Tonight, August 29th, on the Disney Channel the cast of Wizards of Waverly Place will be going behind the scenes of the movie to show fans how the special effects were made to look the way they did in the Disney Channel movie.
It turns out that a lot of the scenes were shot in front of a green screen to give us the effects we saw on our television screens last night.
We definitely think the movie could have made it to the big screen if it had been lengthened a bit and had a few extra characters. We hope in the future they decide to make a “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie” sequel! What about you?

It was the best movie ever I think they all did an awsome job
Yay first comment. LoL. Well the review is good and i expect in a year or two Disney to make a second part of Wizards of Waverly place the movie. Think all of us want that. Hope to hear more updates on Disney from you guys have fun and take care.

this movie was magically awesome! alex (aka selena) looked hot like always, and max and jerry were alot funnier in the movie too
I thought it was really good. It was funny too – funny like the tv show, not funny like stupid (sometimes when they make longer versions/movies of tv shows, all the humor goes out). Great acting by everyone. I found the villains kind of annoying though. That guy with the parrot was irritating.
I thought it was great! Really sweet, more mature than I expected, and truly touching when it needed to be without losing the entertainment factor.
This movie was better than the Hannah Montana. The drama scene, very touching by the way, was better than Hanna taking off her wig near the end. A well recommended family film, and I believe a sequel should be made.

For disney channel this movie was really good. But I really hated the competition. It could’ve been a lot better. It makes me wonder what the point of learning a whole bunch of spells were if all the last competition was going to be is a game of tag. The competition should have been a wizard race. With diffrent stages. Each stage rewuires knowledge of certain spells. Make it both mental and physically draining. And and whoever finishes the stages first has to run to the power. The terrain made no sense. None of the spikes were even used and why place the power in a bowl if it wasn’t going to stay in there. And it just didn’t feel right with selena winning because the sitcom made me feel like justin really deserved it. And harper should’ve came along. She always in every episode. Didn’t feel right with her only there for 10 minutes.she could’ve helped max with his job. The movie was good but there could be a lot better. The villans were the worst ones I have ever seen. No big fight and the way the movie ended was corny with him just anding the stone over. I give it 3. Good for disney but it has some parts that could have been something bigger
ok i think it waz a good movie but they should of made max in the compition then it would be fare n plus alex only one because justin was probly forgeting things lol….well very good movie…ope they make a movie call wizards of waverly place : final battle or something like wizards of waverly : wizards unleashe lol
I’m a 33 year old mum who just loves this show. Thought the WWP movie was heaps better than HM Movie.

i think its a greay movie…but it could have shown the deleated seane!i mean for a disney movie well its AWSOME but… as not showing the whole movie on t.v i think its kind a unfair because you only see it if you buy the movie on DVD and some people won’t EVER get to see the deleated seane!i think if it showed the deleated seane it would be totally better.And i LOVED the compation.its action packed all i have to say about that seane is…WOW! please comment on the movie its the only way to get your feelings out about the movie.

well its a great movie and all…but well it could be better.but just to let u know that steve valentine (magician)is also from im in the band. u would know that if u read my 1st comment.it could be better if there was a little more action in some of the seans like in the wizardry contest…about that they could have shown max i mean hes a wizard too right?well i guess if they thought it would be better if max wasnt in it.well im not the writer so other than that…they could show a little more well footage like if u mess up they could have showed it to u in the end right…i would have LOVED to see that on tv!other than that right now i cant like of anything else so BIG thumbs up for the rest of the movie ,thanks
