Today Viacom announced that Jesse McCartney would be performing a live concert on September 8, 2009 to benefit the Get Schooled foundation.
Get Schooled in an initiative developed by both Viacom and the Bill And Melinda Gates Foundation which aims at getting students and their families to help improve the public education system in the United States. The foundation also works to help encourage students to complete their education.
Jesse will be performing alongside singer and actress Monica.
Over 400 LA-area public school students, their parents and their teachers will be invited to the event.
The event will include the performances by Jesse and Monica, as well as a conference including speeches by Bill Gates, Viacom’s president and CEO Philippe Daum, Stephen Colbert and more.
In addition the event will mark the world premiere of the documentary “Get Schooled: You Have the Right.” The documentary highlights success stories of education and includes appearances from President Barack Obama, LeBron James and Kelly Clarkson.
The documentary will be aired across all of Viacom’s networks:
