Robin Williams And More Awarded At This Years D23 Expo

Robin Williams is one of the actors who will be awarded a 2009 Disney Legends Award during this years Disney D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.

The Disney Legends Awards have been a tradition of the Walt Disney Company for the last 22 years. Disney’s President and CEO Bob Iger says about the award recipients: “This year’s recipients have had truly indelible influence on the Disney legacy. Whether on screen or behind the scenes, these 10 men and women have contributed their talents in countless ways, and we are very honored to name them as Disney Legends.”

Each individual awarded will receive a two-foot-tall bronze Disney Legends sculpture! In addition they will be able to immortalize their hand prints, which will be displayed in the Disney Legends Plaza in California.

Below are the list of the recipients receiving awards at this years Expo:

- Robin Williams: His work for Disney includes the voice of the Genie in “Aladdin,” as well as his starring roles in “Good Morning, Vietnam,” “Dead Poets Society” and his upcoming films “Old Dogs” and “Wedding Banned.”

- Betty White: Betty White most recently starred in the movie “The Proposal,” but is best known for her role in “The Golden Girls.”

- Harry Archinal: Harry is the former president of Buena Vista International

- Bill Farmer: Bill has been the voice of the character Goofy since 1986 and has also done the voice of Pluto!

- Tony Anselmo: A Disney animator who has also provided the voice of the character Donald Duck since 1985.

- Leota Toombs Thomas: While Leota has passed, the award is being awarded to her for serving as a model for a section of the Haunted Mansion ride.

- Don Iwerks: Don is the son of Ub Iwerks, a longtime friend of Walt Disney’s. Don worked at Disney from 1951 to 1986 and created revolutionary film systems that were used in many of Disney’s movies and theme park attractions.

- Beatrice Arthur: While Beatrice has passed, she is best known for her role in “The Golden Girls.”

- Estelle Getty: While Estelle has passed, she is best known for her role in “The Golden Girls.”

- Rue McClanahan: Rue is best known for her work on “The Golden Girls.”
