It doesn’t sound like the go-ahead has been given to “The Spectacular Spider-Man” for a third season. Gred Weisman, the supervising producer of the show has said that as of now Sony will not continue to produce the series.
The series currently airs on Disney’s XD channel. Sony has relinquished all television rights to the Spider-Man character in exchange for concessions from future Spider-Man features.
Weisman said about the future of “The Spectacular Spider-Man,” “If Disney XD decides they don’t want any episodes, it’s no longer likely that we’d shop the series around to XD’s competitors. So any decision [about future episodes of 'Spectacular'] begins at XD, I would think. And before you ask, no, nobody at Disney has talked to me about the series.”
