David Archuleta walked onto the tennis court before the start of the US Open Women’s Finals match. David sung “America The Beautiful” and was joined by the United States Marine Corps, 6th Communications Battalion, Brooklyn, NY.
The women’s tennis match was between Caroline Wozniacki and Kim Clijsters.

I am, once again, blown away by a performance from David Archuleta! He continues to amaze me every time I see him take the stage…no matter what the atmosphere or venue! Last night was magical…breathtaking… and I still feel that way after watching (lost track) of times…tears of joy and pride have been shed for this young man and everything he stands for…what a breath of fresh air he brings to our lives! I have never heard any patriotic song more beautifully sung….OMG, I just watch it over and over. The way he started out so soulful with the kind of sexy sweet soft soulful voice and built to the magnificent ending that just takes your breath away was more than I could ever imagine. I have never heard America The Beautiful sung so awesome as David Archuleta did last night at the 2009 US Open. When I watched it I was so in tears and so proud to be an AMERICAN and a fan of Davids. Great job again. No wonder we all love him and THE VOICE so much. I am now trying to wait patiently for his Christmas album to come out Oct.13, called Christmas From The Heart, I know we will all need a box of kleenex for this also. Yay David.

When David Archuleta sings a patriotic song like “America The Beautiful,” you can feel his soul transmit the meaning directly to the listener. This was a beautiful and heartfelt rendition. For David what matters is the music itself; therefore he never powers his way through a song just to show off his vocal abilities. I love how the song begins ever so gently, gaining momentum as the Marines enter the stadium, then building to a crescendo as the flag is unfurled. Bravo, David!
