Disney realized the success of turning its television series into movies after the release of the Disney Channel Original Movie “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie,” and decided to try something similar on a smaller scale for Disney’s “The Suite Life on Deck.”
Rather than make a movie from the series Disney released an hour long episode of the show titled “Lost At Sea.” The show had a total of 6.8 million viewers – delivering the Disney Channel’s best numbers during that time slot – Wow!

KOOL!
Um, Disney has a long history of turning tv shows into movies. Wizards is not the first instance. The other obvious examples are Hannah Montana and Lizzie McGuire, but the earliest example of this was Jett Jackson: The Movie. Other examples are Even Stevens: The Movie, Kim Possible: A Stitch in Time and Kim Possible Movie: So The Drama, and The Proud Family Movie.
