My 19 month old loves Baby Einstein movies, especially the ones with the real animals. We have tried other Disney movies such as The Fox and the Hound, but she just doesn't watch them. I don't know if she is smarter or will have an attention disorder because she watches Baby Einstein, but she does know the names of animals, body parts, and other things that came from the Baby Einstein movies. We don't just sit her in front of the tv and walk off though; we sit with her and interact with her during the movies. Of course like everything else, some of the Baby Eistein movies are better than others.

It isn't just sitting in front of the TV that causes attention disorders. That is fine. It's when the children are made to sit and watch TV for long time periods because the parents don't have time for them. That's the problem.

Also, I know several children (a number of which have mental disabilities) who have been able to learn how to communicate and identify objects and emotions simply by watching TV like that.
