The ESPN Channel along with the Discovery Channel will be introducing new 3D channels for viewers. ESPN’s channel will hit your TV set this summer, while the Discover Channel’s will not be available until 2011.
Disney-owned sports channel, ESPN 3D will feature 85 live sporting events the first year it airs.
Bryan Burns, VP of Strategic Business Planning and Development at ESP said that the 3D channel “feels like very familiar territory to us. We hope ESPN 3D will be a stimulus for the biz to move forward [with the technology].”
In order to view the programming, viewers must own a 3D-ready TV set as well as 3D glasses. Sounds like the price of watching television in 3D could be pricy for viewers!
Does it sound worth it to you?
