It sounds like Marvel Studios may be planning on making a Ghost Rider 2 movie, which would be a sequel to the 2007 movie “Ghost Rider.” A tentative title is “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.”
“Ghost Rider” was about the Marvel character, Johnny Blaze, who is a stunt motorcyclist who gives up his soul in order to save someone he loves and now has to pay the price.
The producer Mike De Luca has said that the original movies producer, Mark Steven Johnson, will not be coming back if there is a sequel and actress Eva Mendes will not be signing on for the sequel either.
Nicolas Cage, who will be reprising his role as Johnny Blaze / Ghost Rider, thinks that the sequel film should be shot in Europe, to which producer Mike had to say:
“Yeah, the idea was because Ghost Rider is a unique blend of theology and action and the character deals with the kind of battle of good vs. evil in a theological sense, that Europe you could avail yourself of a lot of religious sites and kind ancient religious site and a history of theology as a setting that isn’t available in the U.S. We wanted to kind of signal that we’re as different from the first movie just because we want to be fresh and new as you can get in terms of getting away from southwestern kind of pseudo-western thing.”
Does this sound like a movie you’d want to watch?
