On January 12, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment Released “Make It Or Break It: Volume One” on an Extended Edition DVD.
In this ABC Family Original Series you will experience the rivalry and romance of four teenage girls who are on a path to achieve Olympic Gold – and you will learn how far they will go to achieve their dreams.
Find out what it takes these ladies to get to nationals. Watch their triumphs, their heartbreaks, and their friendships as they are involved in the intense world of competitive gymnastics.
Ever since the movie “Bring It On” we have been addicted to anything and everything cheerleading. We think that this television series truly chronicles not only the sport, but the athletes involved in it. We love seeing these ladies both on the mats competing, as well as in their real life, having experiences we can relate to.
In the series, three gymnasts, Payson Keeler, Kaylie Cruz and Lauren Tanner are training to head to the Olympics at the Rocky Mountain Gymnastic Training Center when gymnast Emily Kmetko shows up and becomes a threat – as only three people from the Rocky Mountain Training Center can be sent to Boston for training.
Emily’s story is a classic case of odd-man-out, Cinderella story. Her family is different from the other girls families and she’s new in town. While the other girls families are rich and upper class, Emily’s family really has to put in effort to live comfortably.
We love the high-energy music that plays during the competitions, it makes you get really into the moves and watching the girls compete against each other on the beam, uneven bars, vault and floor. But when Lauren falls off of her specialty – the beam, tension is high and it’s no longer easy to tell which 3 of the girls will make it to finals.
Even after Lauren reset Emily’s vault and Emily fell during her turn and got hurt, Emily still managed to make it to third place going to nationals. Much to the dismay of Lauren, who headed to nationals in 4th place. But, Lauren and her dad devise a scheme to hurt the ladies going to nationals – they take their coach away – yikes! Will these ladies still be able to compete?
We love the relationship these ladies develop with each other over time through their love of the sport of gymnastics. They each go through hardships with not only the sport but with their family, friends and relationships (which some of them even have to keep a secret to stay on the gymnastics team!).
We don’t want to give too much about the series away, because we really think you should head to the stores and pick up a copy for yourself – but this is a great show to watch when you want to raise your self-esteem and when you want to see drama, excitement and fun!
The DVD even includes behind-the-scenes footage showing what it takes to perform these amazing gymnastic stunts!
Bonus Features include:
- Never-Before-Seen Extended Finale
- Making It—Watch How These Stars Balance Acting With Difficult Stunts
- Deleted Scenes
On a side note, we love that Candace Cameron Bure is in the series – Candace played D.J. on the popular show Full House.
The Make It Or Break It: Volume One (Extended Edition) DVD retails for $29.99. Will you be picking up a copy?
