Disney’s first Resort and Spa in Hawaii has been named Aulani – which means “the place that speaks for the great ones” or “the place that speaks with deep messages.” The resort is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2011.
Joe Rohde, Senior Vice President of Creative for Walt Disney Imagineering said about the resort: “We want this resort destination to reflect the vibrant culture that surrounds it. The name Aulani expresses a connection to tradition and deep story-telling — and its roots are here in this land.”
The resort will have 360 hotel rooms and almost 500 Disney Vacation Club villas, a spa, restaurants, conference center, pools, hot tubs and a snorkeling lagoon.
