Iyaz, a Beluga Heights / Reprise Records artist, visited Radio Disney to record for the “Celebrity Take With Jake” show.
Iyaz talks with Jake about his work on the 25th Anniversary remake of the song “We Are The World” as well as his rise to fame with his hit single “Replay.”
Some highlights from Iyaz’s interview with Jake include:
- Iyaz joked about seeing Justin Bieber a lot over the Grammy Awards weekend: “I think he’s stalking me…I run out there, there he is.”
- Iyaz met Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones for the first time and was excited when he found out that they knew his song “Replay.” When he tested Lionel to find out how well he knew the song: “He sang it to me! He sang ‘na na na na everyday, it’s like my iPod stuck on replay, replay.’ He even knew how many ‘replays’ were at the end. That’s when I knew he knew what song it was.”
Iyaz also said about Lionel: “He did a little shout out for me. Looked at the camera and told my mom ‘You have a great son, wish him nothing but great success.’ That meant a lot to me – that’s like winning a Grammy.”
- Iyaz talks about recording “We Are The World” which “just brought everyone together, so that was definitely a great, great feeling.”
Iyaz’s Celebrity Take With Jake interview will air on Tuesday, February 16th at 3PM PT / 6PM ET.
