Disney is hoping to turn High School Musical 4 into a new Disney Channel Original movie at some point in the coming years, but Zac Efron isn’t so sure that that’s a good idea.
In a recent interview Zac said about the HSM franchise continuing:
“I don’t know what else we could do, we graduated high school. It might be a bit redundant, we’re a bit too old and pretty soon what’s to stop us from doing Retirement Home Musical?”
Ouch! Disney took a chance with the original HSM and it paid off, it might this time too! Pretty harsh for the company that gave you your start!

he’s not saying anything bad, he’s just saying there’s nothing more to make a movie about now and it’s gonna get old. HSM is my favourite movie and it’s sad to see it end, but then I agree that 3 is enough, cuz the characters are getting old and the same old story will get old.
I think that Disney is trying to hard with an HSM4. Maybe if, Tiara, Jimmy, and Donny were to be in it, I could care, but it seems the cannon of the world will be completely different. Lame…
I agree with the person before me, Sarah. He would of never got these other roles if he hadn’t done hsm and now he’s too good for Disney and attacking Disney and saying the idea is stupid?! My gosh jerk!

he is not saying that it is a bad idea to make hsm4, he just said that it wouldn’t make sense for troy and the others from the first three movies to be in them because they already graduated high school. which makes perfect sense

it would be wonderful to make another movie like HSM but it wouldn’t be the same without the first original cast, so I vote no, but even if they do it it doesn’t matter anymore since vanessa and zac and the rest are gone now…
i luv zac but i should say that i’m not agree with him .HSM is always HSM no matter if it is 2 ,3 ,or 4 we always love it & we will see it & zac u can’t tell that ur too old for that rule because u were just playing as a 17 years old boy in movie.
I saw the interveiw that Zac said that and it wasn’t ment that way. I think he is very gratful for all Disney has done for him.
Give me a break… Zac was talking about the original cast in the quote… hence the term “we”… and it was not a stab at Disney… it was a statement concerning the original cast needing to move on… a new class of kids with a new plot will be the right choice to continue the HSM franchise… just give the new cast a fresh start and stop the boo-hooing over the original cast moving on… they should and go bless them for getting a big break in show biz.

he is not harsh about it . He is just tellig the truth . he would never say something bad about HSM beacuse these movies gave him everything he has today , he is really thankfully for it + HSM is the protject he holds closest to his heart , so stop saying his is harsh .

I would prefer not having High School Musical 4, because I also agree Zac that having HSM4 is a bit redundant. I love the ending of HSM3, so if it continues to have HSM4, it will be to strange. Ending would become no ending. =]
