Britain’s Odeon and UCI Cinema Group released an official statement about their decision to boycott Disney’s “Alice In Wonderland” movie when it debuts in March:
“Odeon/UCI has invested considerable sums of money, especially in the UK, over the past 12 months to install digital projection systems in its cinemas to enable customers to enjoy 3D. The popularity of 3D titles meant that last year these films played in Odeon/UCI cinemas for an average of 18 weeks from initial release.
We have a very full line-up of films to offer audiences over the next few weeks, including two new 3D titles. These will now take priority in our cinemas.”
Sounds like you wont be able to head to your local Odeon theater in the UK to watch Tim Burton’s new flick.
As much as the theaters boycotting the film may lose money, “Alice In Wonderland” is getting some serious press off of these boycotts, meaning the film will probably make money than it would have if they had never shortened the theater run – because now more people have heard of it on the news and online and will be more likely to go see it to find out what all the fuss is about.
Do you agree?
David Archuleta was lucky enough last night to meet Anika Noni Rose, who voiced Tiana in Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog.”
David Tweeted: “Finished laying down vocals for the new song. Got to meet Anika Noni Rose, who’s in The Princess and the Frog and Dreamgirls.”
We bet she loved him!
Demi Lovato and her friends had fun last night with some fake mustaches! Demi posted the picture above and said “Somehow this…..”
