Summit Entertainment has pulled out of the bidding for the Walt Disney Company’s Miramax Films.
Summit has refused to comment on their reason for pulling out of the running to gain ownership of Miramax, however, sources are saying that the Walt Disney Company is asking over $650 million for the movie company, which was originally purchased in 1993 by Bob and Harvey Weinstein for $80 million.
Word is that there are still a number of studios interested in purchasing Miramax. We’re sure we’ll hear more about this deal shortly.
Joe Jonas just posted the picture above on his Twitter, saying: “the new flick coming soon…. with @ddlovato.”
The photo is from Joe and Demi’s music video shoot on the beach for their Disney’s Friends For Change song “Make A Wave.”
We love that Joe used the movie poster idea from the Nicholas Sparks film “Dear John.” Click here to listen to what the Dear John characters had to say about Miley Cyrus’ new movie “The Last Song,” which is also from Nicholas Sparks.
What do you think of Joe and Demi’s movie poster?
Aly and AJ Michalka, previously of Walt Disney Records, have just left Hollywood Records, under their new name 78violet. The ladies let fans know through an email newsletter, which you can check out below:
Hey guys…so we know it’s been quiet in the 78violet camp but we want to first off thank you for sticking with us. We have some big news and wanted to make sure you hear it first.
Now that it’s official, we can tell you we’re no longer a part of Hollywood Records. What does that mean exactly??? Now we have the freedom to take 78violet in the direction we want. We’re writing and recording new music and are really excited on what’s next. So…what is next? As for the album we recorded for Hollywood, honestly, we don’t foresee it ever being released. But…we are continuing to write and record new songs that we hope you’ll love as much as we do.
We’re going to be taking the Aly & AJ website down in the meantime which means the current message board will be removed and the accounts you created on the site will be put on hold. Yes…major bummer. But we’ll have a new message board and a new temporary site up in a few days that will serve as our main communication with you for the time being.
As always, you can get a hold of us on Twitter or Facebook.
We love you and are excited to share the new 78violet with you. Xoxo.

Michael Jackson fans should start getting seriously excited, because the classic Captain EO attraction is returning the Disneyland theme park on February 23, 2010.
The original short film, which was produced by George Lucas, will be replacing the Honey I Shrunk the Audience attraction in the theme parks Tomorrowland.
Captain EO was an attraction at the Disneyland theme park from 1986 until 1997.
The original Captain EO attraction was a video about the story of Captain EO, played by Michael Jackson, who had to work with the crew on his spaceship to deliver a gift to an alien villain.
When the group arrives on the planet of the villain (the Witch Queen) they are sentenced to torture and are only saved when Captain EO tells the Witch Queen that he is able to see through her evilness to her beauty underneath.
Who’s planning on checking out the attraction when it re-enters the park?
Congratulations to Hilary Duff! The news of her engagement to Mike Comrie has just broken!
