Castle In The Sky Special Edition DVD Review

On March 2, 2010 Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment released “Castle In the Sky” on Special Edition DVD. The Studio Ghibli Film is from Academy Award Winning Director Hayao Miyazaki.

The Special Edition version of Castle In The Sky comes on 2 DVD’s – one with the movie and one with never-before-seen bonus features.

This is a beautifully made movie about friendship, courage and family. In the movie, the character Pazu, who is an apprentice to an engineer, finds a young girl, Sheeta, who has fallen from the sky, after trying to escape from a group of air pirates who have kidnapped her – but lucky for Sheeta her necklace has special powers and keeps her floating above the ground rather than landing with a thud!

Together the two new friends have to escape from a number of bad guys in order to find the legendary floating castle, Laputa, where Sheeta’s magic crystal necklace has come from.

We think this movie is great for young kids to teach them courage, compassion and give them a desire for adventure. The characters in this movie are so young yet they spend the movie working together toward their goal, and working to save their friends who are much older than them – without fear.

By the end of the movie you will feel a connection with all of the characters in the film and you will be on the edge of your seat hoping that they all make it out of their adventure safely!
