Awww, we would try our darnedest to get tickets to the opening night of this musical if it ever comes to fruition!
Disney Theatrical Productions and Tony Award winning director, Stephen Daldry, are currently in the early stages of developing a Broadway adaption of the Classic 1941 Disney Movie “Dumbo.”
So far there have not been any writers, designers or composers chosen for the Dumbo musical, and therefore there is no word yet on when it will open on Broadway.
An executive at Disney said about the debut timing: “Let’s put it this way, ‘Dumbo’ will not be on Broadway in the 2010-11 season, because it’s simply in the very early stages.”
There are also a number of other Disney titles that the company hopes to bring to musical theater in the coming years, including “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “Newsies.”
