Word is that Disney is planning on remaking the hit movie “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,” which originally released in 1989.
The movie is about a scientist, Rick Moranis as Wayne Szalinski, who accidently shrinks his children while performing an experiment. The movie was such a hit that a sequel movie was made, titled “Honey, I Blew Up the Kid.”
Another, straight to DVD, movie was also released based on the same scenario. The movie was titled “Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves.”
There is also an attraction at Walt Disney World’s Epcot called “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience” based on the original movie. (Which we love!)
Actors in the original “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” include:
- Rick Moranis as Wayne Szalinski
- Matt Frewer as Russell “Russ” Thompson, Sr.
- Marcia Strassman as Diane Szalinski
- Kristine Sutherland as Mae Thompson
- Thomas Wilson Brown as Russell “Russ” Thompson
- Jared Rushton as Ronald “Ron” Thompson
- Amy O’Neill as Amy Szalinski
- Robert Oliveri as Nick Szalinski
- Carl Steven as Tommy Pervis
- Mark L. Taylor as Donald “Don” Forrester
- Kimmy Robertson as Gloria Forrester
- Lou Cutell as Dr. Brainard

How could 59% of idiots be supportive of this idea? “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” is a classic, and it is fine as it is. Sure it seems a little dated in terms of visual effects, but stop-motion insects certainly looks better than CGI ones would work. Plus, who could possibly replace the perfectly cast Rick Moranis as Wayne Szalinski. Say no to this, and all other remakes. Get some originality, Hollywood!
