Sony has signed an agreement with some of the top studios so that PlayStation users will be able to watch digital versions of new release HD movies on their gaming console through the PlayStation Network video delivery service.
The studios that have signed the agreement with Sony include:
- Walt Disney Pictures
- 20th Century Fox
- Paramount Pictures
- Sony Pictures Entertainment
- Universal Pictures
- Warner Bros. Digital Distribution
Peter Dille, Senior Vice President of Marketing and PlayStation Network said:
“Securing high definition content from these studios is another significant milestone further validating PlayStation Network as a complete entertainment network in the home. PlayStation Network is the first and only service to deliver high definition home entertainment from all six major studios, directly to consumers for download.”
While the content will only be available in the United States to start, Sony hopes to launch soon in France, Germany, the UK and Spain.
