April 13, 2010 |  by

We are extremely excited to announce that a newly restored, digital master special edition DVD of The Great Mouse Detective is available in stores today, April 13th!

“The Great Mouse Detective: Mystery In The Mist Edition” DVD includes a number of bonus features:

- So You Think You Can Sleuth? – An animated look at the history of detective work, complete with a crime-solving puzzle for the entire family.
- The Making Of “The Great Mouse Detective”
- “The World’s Greatest Criminal Mind” Sing-Along Song

In the movie, toymaker Hiram Flaversham is kidnapped, or “mousenapped,” on his daughters birthday! And not just kidnapped, but taken by Fidget – a creepy bat with a peg leg! Olivia hires detective Basil of Baker Street to help her find her father! Basil works closely with Dr. David Q. Dawson, his assistant, to track down Flaversham, who is being held by the evil Dr. Ratigan.

And we can’t forget about the super cute basset hound, Toby, who helps Basil, Dawson and Olivia on their hunt for Flaversham!

But things go wrong when the crew comes across Fidget in a toy shop. As they begin chasing him he hides and later jumps out of a baby crib and kidnaps Olivia! Now it’s up to Toby, Basil and Dawson to find her AND her father.

Basil and Dawson soon find out why it is that Flaversham was taken by Ratigan – Ratigan wants to recreate the Queen in the form of a robot, so that he can run her every move, thereby making himself ruler – and because Flaversham is a toymaker, Ratigan believes he is the guy for the job.

Will Basil and Dawson be able to rescue the Flaversham’s from Fidget and Ratigan? And don’t forget Ratigan’s pet cat Felicia!

The Great Mouse Detective was directed by Ron Clements and John Musker who have worked on a number of Disney movies, including “Aladdin,” “The Little Mermaid” and “The Princess and the Frog.”

The movie retails for $19.99, is rated G and runs 74 minutes long. If you have ever seen The Great Mouse Detective, what do you think of the movie?
