Disney Pixar’s “Brave” Movie Given Release Date
Stitch Kingdom nailed it when they posted that Disney/Pixar’s “The Bear And The Bow” was going through a title change and being renamed “Brave.”
Disney/Pixar just announced that “Brave” would be arriving to theaters on June 15, 2012 – just a few months before the new “Monsters Inc 2” movie debuting in November.
The movie is directed by Brenda Chapman who worked on the Disney/Pixar movie “Cars.” The movie will star Reese Witherspoon (or her voice) as the Scottish Princess Merida, who would rather be an archer. Against her mother’s wishes, Merida makes a reckless choice that will unleash peril on her father’s kingdom and on her mother’s life! Yikes!
Sounds exciting and we can’t wait to see it!

No offense to Reese Witherspoon, but I think Angelina Jolie probably would have made a better character for some one who is a professional archer. She could do a better voice for that part I’m sure. Elle Woods really is not your typical ” I’m a bad girl who could shoot a bow” type. Lol! Brenda should try to get Jolie.
I think they should have got a Scottish voice. As usually american ‘scottish’ is not that great.
I’m excited. Reese did a whole lot more than ‘Elle Woods’, and Jolie is WAY overrated. They haven’t steered us wrong yet, so I’m trusting them!
Why on earth was Reese cast for the lead? And why is Billy Connolly the only cast member thus far with a Scottish accent? I myself am from California, but I have some Scottish ancestory, and I was really excited to hear that Disney was planning on creating a movie suppossedly based in Scotland. I thought this would be a fantastic opportunity for the directors to paint the green highlands, delve into celtic music, and just overall create a new look and theme for one of their films.
Are the directors just too lazy to seek Scottish voice actors or do they think the accent would be too hard for their American audiences to understand? I love that they are basing a film in Scotland, and I’m hoping this movie will really break the mold, but it requires a little originality from the casting directors as well. Why not bring in some new people? Why must these directors recycle actors. It’s time for something truly different, let’s hope this movie is able to succeed.
Isn’t this just “Mulan” with kilts and bagpipes?
