Broadway’s “The Lion King” has come to Madison, Wisconsin where it will run for four weeks at the Overture Center. This is only the second time in history that the center has hosted a major Broadway play for this amount of time.
It is expected that the theater will get around 70,000 people visiting to see the performance. The play is expected to help not only the theater but also the local businesses and restaurants.
The media relations coordinator for Overture Center, Robert Chappell, said about the news:
“The only other show that would be remotely comparable would be ‘Phantom of the Opera’ five years ago and that was here for a full month. Since then, we haven’t had a Broadway show here more than a few days.”
If you don’t have tickets to the play yet, you should act fast – 95% of the tickets have already been purchased! Let us know if you’ll be checking out “The Lion King” in Wisconsin this month!
