Production has just gotten underway in New Zealand on a new Disney Channel Original Movie “Avalon High.” The movie is set to star Britt Robertson and Gregg Sulkin.
The movie, which is based on a novel by Meg Cabot, follows the character Allie Pennington who is a new student at Avalon High who is shocked to learn that her classmates are reincarnations of King Arthur and his Court. She begins to see parallels between her classmates and the past as she is researching a term paper on King Arthur’s legacy:
“From handsome quarterback Will, his cheerleader girlfriend, Jen, and their best friend, Lance, to Will’s brooding step-brother, Marco, a quirky kid named Miles and football players who act like knights of the roundtable. “

They are already ruining this book! The main character’s name is Ellie not Allie. It changes some of the story line to change the name!
you cant change the name of the MAIN CHARACTER from elaine/ellie/elle to allie!!!!! the whole book was based on their names. and elaine was the lady of Shallot. hello major poem by tennyson!!!!
Ok, I am NOT looking forward to this movie. The movie industry already ruined Ella Enchanted (my 3rd favorite book), and Eragon, now they’re trying Avalon High (number 2). Greeeaaat.

The book is and probably always will be my favourite book and is what really got me loving the whole king Arthur legend.
Just by changing her name will change a huge chunk of the story line.
And can some one explain to me who Miles is supposed to be???
Also is Disney original films, films that are only shown on the Disney channel? They don’t come out in the cinemas?
And one more thing I just wanna say, even if they do ruin the film, I have plans to become a director and make Avalon High into one of the best films ever made (well that’s the hope);)

I just finished the book today! I hope it lives up to the real book!! I think Gregg Sulkin will be a great Will!!! I love him for Wizards also! But some other characters I’m not crazy about…mainly Jen and Lance…but whateve. Who thinks they should make a book from The Mediator series? I think Sterling Knight would like play a great Paul if he dyed his hair!! lol
I also have to say that like if you’re making a movie based on a book…why change ANYTHING at all????? It’s just terrible!! WHO IS MILES?!?! This’ll be a great movie, just great!! <— all sarcasm!
this is the book that got my into the whole king arthur thing, though i read the book last year it lead me to many good camelot based stories, such as “song of the sparrow”, and “here lies arthur”. i really hope disney does not ruin this. though many good movies have come from disney such as “the little mermaid”,”beauty and the beast.” just not disney channel, lets not hate disney, just the channel. Avalon High. i will not watch the movie unless its gets great reviews and lives up to the story. but remember meg cabots other books “the princess diaries” and “the princess diaries 2 royal engagement” have been pretty good, even though i havent read the books.
the characters are not like the book!!! oh well, i’ll still watch it…….

OMG! THEY CHANGED HER NAME!!! I bet that she won’t like running or floating in this movie! If they mess her up that bad it’ll be just like Annabeth Chase in the Percy Jackson movie like everyone I knew who had read the book loathed (hated) it! Just because they changed her HAIR COLLOR!!! Oh well I’ll watch it anyways, I mean they didn’t mess up the princess diaries too Much and that was written by Meg Cabot(btw has anybody read “Airhead”???).

OMG my sister read the book and she is now obsessed with it. I didn’t exactly read the book, but my sister Kimberly is an avid reader. I mean I like the Percy Jackson books but they totally messed up the movie!!!! When I read the book and saw the movie I was soooo mad with the movie producers. I found out they were making a second movie and I didn’t like that idea. They messed it up so much they aren’t even making a second movie. Anyway, who is Miles????

I will end up watching the movies, but I think that disney is totally going to do a terrible job. i mean come on. a real good director should take on this and do a decent job, not just turn it into a dinky disney movie.

Ok so just saw a quick sort of preview on MTV2 and I am NOT happy. I mean really this is just going to be another bad cheesy Disney Channel movie. I just hope that the acting and story line isn’t too bad but I am not being hopeful since I have a bad feeling it will be.

You guys are so dumb. Of course they changed her name to Allie, because the old english version of the name Elaine was actually Alaine and they were trying to be more Arturian. And, the character of Allie was never intended to be a symbol of the lady of shallot. The lady of shalot was a crazy lady who was seriously in love with lancelot and commited suicide when lancelot spurned her. Allie or Ellie, is the lady of the lake, not the Lady of Shallot. Both the lady of shalot and the lady of the lake had the same name, spelled Alaine, which is how they spelled it before the language was slaughtered to make it more modern. The lady of the lake traditionally in the times of camelot helped arthur and was the one that helped him find his true power and the one that first handed him excalibur.
You know, i feel that i dont want anyone to make the movie because they will slaughter it and at the same time i kinda want them to make the movie to see if it will come out right. When they did percy jackson and the olympians i was soooo pissed off, to this day i still rant about it to my classmates… Now, they ruined Avalon high, which is just WRONG! And next year they are going to make the hunger games into a movie which will probably be slaughtered too! I swear, the movie producers of the world got a list of my favorite books and are now intent on making them into crappy movies! WHATS NEXT??? ARE THEY GOING TO RUIN THE MEDIATOR SERIES TOO????? this book rocked but the Disney channel movie was very far from real book!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They murdered this great book by creating this movie. For anyone who has not read the book based on the horrible movie version I advise that you read the book it is one of my all time favorites but the movie was two hours of my life wasted that I will NEVER get back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Disney should have followed the book a little closer if the name were not “avalon high” I would not have known that it was based on the book at all. I was so psyched to finally watch this but what a disappointment I accpected more from Disney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Loved this movie! i have never read the book but i am thinking about it! I wish my life could have an adventure like that. Anyway i hope a lot of people enjoy the movie from Disney Channel. Hope they play it soon. haven’t seen it in a while!
