As early as this Fall, we may be able to watch movies at home that are playing in theaters at the same time. Viewers would pay between $20-$30 to rent the movie at home, which would be about the price a couple or a family would pay to go to the theaters and see the film.
According to reports, Time Warner Cable Inc is working on the new movie service and that the company has already pitched the idea to the Walt Disney Company’s Walt Disney Pictures as well as Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox.
It is expected that a trial run will take place before the real deal hits our television sets. The trial would include movies that are in theaters, but are not expected to be blockbuster hits so that studios do not get upset until it is proved that they can make money off the new service.
