In a recent interview, Miley Cyrus explained the reasoning behind her choosing more adult roles for her future films:
The next film I’m doing is not for the [Hannah Montana] audience. But that is why I did the last season, for my young fans. I want the fans that have grown up with me from 16-26 who will respond to older material. I have to choose scripts that are right for someone who is 18 because that is me. It’s very different going from a show with a huge audience and fan base to something…independent. But I’m excited to work on a film that is going to touch people. It’s edgy and different and I don’t know how the fans will react, but it’s something I can relate to.

but i’m not sure if this new audience approach will work.
because all the fans are mainly under the age of 16 and won’t be old enough to see the new stuff and the audience that are don’t really like her :/ they all label her as a disney star and nothing else so i don’t think it will work.
even though she is amazingly talented, she may start to loose her [younger] fans :/

I think she is going in the right direction, people have to cut the cord, let the poor girl grown up
most of her fans are teens and so if grownups are interested in seeing this movie then they will probably start liking miley. or not because she wiil just be an actor to them.
i think she is going to lose her young fans. shes not going to be doing any hannah montana things anymore. but i am glad for her about growing up. it needs to happen and shes going in the right direction. she will lose her younger fans and thats a risk shes gonna have to take sometime.
yes she will lose her hannah montanna fans soon but shes like 17 nearly 18 now and she can’t keep going on as hannah montanna forever , she has to grow up. I think she’ll get a great audience from this because nearly every teenager out there likes miley not hannah but miley if its for her music or just her acting like in The Last Song. Miley you should go for it, I personally love you as miley not hannah because I grew up shortly after you from when you started the show firstly till when you will end it. I will be ok with hannah montana ending because its time to move on and I can’t wait to see you in these new movies. Love ya Miley, You’re such a role model

good for miley. its time to get away from disney. she is still most likely to keep her old fans as well as earn new ones. this is a good thing and i am very proud of her.

Anything from miley is great so go miley and i am 19 and i love her a lot from hannah montana days till this day so go miley and don’t be afraid from anything because you’re the best.
