Joss Whedon To Direct Marvel’s “The Avengers” Movie

Joss Whedon announced at Comic-Con that he is officially signed on to direct Marvel’s new movie “the Avengers.”

The movie, which is set to hit theaters in May 2012, stars a number of popular actors, including:

- Chris Evans as Steve Rogers / Captain America
- Chris Hemsworth as Thor
- Mark Ruffalo as The Incredible Hulk (in talks)
- Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man
- Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow (rumored)
- Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton / Hawkeye (rumored)
- Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
- Tom Hiddleston as Loki
- Don Cheadle as Col. James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes / War Machine (rumored)
- Neal McDonough as Dum Dum Dugan (rumored)
- Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson (rumored)
