Hellcats Season 1 Episode 1 “A World Full Of Strangers” Recap

In the premiere episode of Ashley Tisdale and Aly Michalka’s new show “Hellcats,” titled “A World Full Of Strangers,” we see Marti riding her bike near her college, Lancer. We are introduced to the football-loving school where cheerleading is taken extremely seriously – and where the head cheerleader of the “Hellcats” team is none other than Ashley Tisdale’s character Savannah.

Marti has trouble understanding why anyone would want to be a cheerleader, that is, until she realizes that all of her bills are overdue and she needs to find a way to get a new scholarship at Lancer after the school canceled her original one.

When Marti meets Savannah things don’t go so well when Marti calls the Hellcats captain a “football groupie.” A screaming match occurs until the two realize everyone is staring at them and they go their separate ways.

To get prepared for cheerleading tryouts Marti watches the movie “Bring It On” and practices in her home – dancing on top of furniture and doing back flips. Fun!

Marti shows up at the tryouts only to realize that Savannah is the captain of the team – yikes! Will Marti be able to win her over during tryouts? It looks like it after Marti does some very original moves that weren’t part of the routine!

Turns out Marti makes the team!

Marti moves into the cheerleading house on campus where she ends up rooming with Savannah. Both of them decide to put their differences behind them and start over – Savannah seems much nicer now!

The cheerleading coach finds out that the team may be kept from attending any further competitions unless they win Nationals this year. Uh oh! We have our fingers crossed!

Marti has a bit of trouble her first time getting ready in the morning on her first day living in the house – but we expected as much as she wasn’t immediately accepted by one of the decision makers on the cheerleading squad, Alice.

Marti arrives at practice with the rest of the team and begins improvising moves and the coach begins telling the other athletes to follow Marti’s lead. Their routine is really fun and energizing and makes us want to dance around the room while we watch!

Later on after practice Marti tells Savannah the story of why she stopped doing gymnastics, even though she had trained for a really long time – it turns out her mom embarrassed her at an event, and she ended up quitting a month later because her mom kept coming to the events and she couldn’t concentrate on her routine.

Oh no! And after all that her mom gets invited to qualifiers by Alice! This could end badly! Why is Alice trying to jeopardize the team that she herself is a part of?
