ABC Family Developing A TV Movie About Constance McMillen
ABC Family is developing a television movie about Constance McMillen, an 18-year-old student in Mississippi who was banned from attending her own prom when the school board found out she wanted to bring her girlfriend as her date. When Constance challenged the school board they ended up canceling the prom altogether.
The American Civil Liberties Union sued Constance’s school and she was awarded a $35,000 settlement, and in addition actress and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres donated $30,000 to Constance’s college fund.
