Downtown Disney Renovations “Hyperion Wharf”

November 18, 2010 • By Home

Pretty soon Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney will be renovated and Pleasure Island will be turned into a new location called Hyperion Wharf.

During the day the Hyperion Wharf will be a great place to shop and eat and at night thousands of lights will transform the area into an “electric wonderland.” It turns out Hyperion is the name of the Greek god of light, and also the name of the street on which Walt Disney built his first major animation studio.

Because the location in on a lake there will be a relaxing lakeside park as well as a pedestrian walkway. Awesome!

Other projects that will be worked on soon at Downtown Disney include:

– A renovation of the Lego Imagination Center, with new Lego exterior models featuring scenes from classic Disney movies.
– Enhancements at the AMC Theaters, including new digital technology, a concession stand of the future, and Florida’s first ever Fork & Screen Theater.
– New retail shops and atmosphere entertainment

Construction for the new Hyperion Wharf will begin soon and will be completed in 2013. Thoughts?
