Gore Verbinski, who directed the first three “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies will be directing Disney’s “The Lone Ranger” franchise. Actor Johnny Depp will be playing Tonto, a Native American warrior who helps an injured Texas Ranger regain his strength when he is hurt by a group of outlaws. Once the Lone Ranger is healthy again he puts on his mask and brings Tonto with him, and his horse Silver, to hunt down the outlaws and get revenge.
The movie will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (“Pirates of the Caribbean”) and it was originally speculated that George Clooney would play the part of the Lone Ranger, however that remains to be seen. Who else do you think would be a good fit for the part?
“The Lone Ranger” movie will be based on the TV series, which ran from 1949-1957.
