In a recent interview the group My Chemical Romance talked about how they released their new album “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys” the same week as Kanye West released his new CD. Here’s what member of the group Gerard Way had to say about their hopes to be on the billboard charts and the possibility of beating out Kanye:
I think it’s almost in the cards for us to be number two. We’ve never been number one. We got our a** kicked by Miley Cyrus last time, back when nobody knew who she was. It was [a disappointment] at the time because I felt like we’d worked towards [being number one] and it felt like it was in the cards. We expected it – like, who can beat us? A lip syncing child, that’s who!

I’m a big fan of My Chemical Romance and even though Miley Cyrus isn’t an artist I listen to I feel pretty bad that Gerard would make that kind of comment. Especially about her because I think she has an amazing voice and doesn’t lip sync. Besides most pop musician have some kind of back track live, even rappers. The only part I agree with is the “having it easy” part. But so what. At least most of her music is tolerable. I rather listen to Miley Cyrus than Lady Gaga. And that’s just my opinion.
I find it so sad that you kids can actually begin to think that Miley Cyrus and My Chemical Romance are comparably talented even the slightest, most infintesimal way. Miley is a manufactured product for stone deaf kids like you. MCR work for their fame and are extremely talented, they don’t show up in the studion, sing a song that’s been written for them, and then spend the rest of their time on photo shoots and shoes.

1. Neither of them are talentless. Miley isn’t my style. But she does have a good voice. MCR is my style. The difference between them and Miley is… they are older, have more experience, and know more about what they are doing. They are not being used as a puppet. I think that Miley has more growing up, she also needs a group of people to guide her in the right direction.
2. In regards to Gerard’s comment. He has the right to say what he feels. He was frustrated, they have been in this business longer.
I just think that the debate between the MCR fans and the Miley fans is stupid. The lot of you should grow up.
Miley works hard just like them to make and put out music. It’s not her fault the industry is geared towards her type of music instead of theirs right now. And she does not lip sync and has a good voice. If he doesn’t like her music, fine. But he shouldn’t be calling anybody out. I guess he thinks he’s the shizz… EMO IDIOT!!!

Miley is huge, she’s like a billionare and she’s only 18 years old – says a lot. It’s not her fault she’s very famous, very rich and is constantly in the charts is it? Whereas My Chemical Romance are just emo’s and nobodys. Miley doesn’t lipsync, she doesn’t have to. And if you look at her songs properly, she has written the majority of them. Except the Hannah ones of course because well, she was just playing a role!

ok I have never heard of my chemical romance before. What does that mean? They are not as popular. I’m related to Gerard, and I’m pretty sure I’ve been around him long enough to know that his parents didn’t spoil him rotten to get him where he’s at Like Mileys dad does. Well everyone is entitled to an opinion but Gerard did make a statement that the guys of MCR put so much effort,time and passion just for the black parade and to get beaten by miley cyrus’s hannah montana soundtrack (all the songs not written by her) was a total disappointment.Plus I agree that all MCR fans have better grammar and I’m only 12 years old so pretty much all I can say in one sentence is MILEY IS A SL**! MCR was touring for years,did a lot of opening acts before making it big time,while miley took advantage of disney and her dad to get famous. Their comment makes me smile, as well as laugh a bit. I love MCR, and am just so freaking happy they’re back and as great as they always have been. They’re an inspiration, and just make me so goshdarn happy. Their new album is fantastic. Like, freakinfantastic.
It’s sad that they got beaten by Miley. And it’s only because of all the parents of little kids, as well as the kids, that she beat them. Seriously.
I can’t stand her voice, and it sounds like she’s whining. She sings through her nose. But, little kids don’t pick up on that. They think she’s pretty, and they want to be like her. Which is the main reason I ‘hate’ her. (Hate meaning dislike a whole bunch.) A bunch of LITTLE KIDS look up to her, and she’s not a good role model for them AT all.
MCR isn’t completely appropriate for little kids, either, but at least they didn’t, like… Try to be. They were never intending to be big stars for toddlers to run around and sing along with. Miley was. She’s a bad role model.
As for her lip syncing, it’s pretty clear that she does. Most Disney stars do. Like, when you see her prancing around stage, doing heavy ‘dancing,’ and her voice hardly sounds strained, that’s a sign of lip-syncing. Which doesn’t mean she’s ‘just good’. Even Lady GaGa gets a little breathy when dancing and singing. As does Gerard Way. Just proof she’s got some ‘extra help’ from the sound people.
In any case, Gerard saying that they lost to a “lip syncing child” is hardly offensive. And it doesn’t mean he’s full of himself. He knows his band is talented. He knows they put their heart and soul into it. And yeah, he’s annoyed that an auto-tuned kid half his age won. It’s like studying superduper hard for a test in school, and then getting a lower grade than the kid that never studies, and hardly does his work. It’s like, “Dude, I can’t believe I did worse than a slacker.”
Yeah, maybe it’s silly of me to keep this going so many months after it’s been said and done, but I felt like putting in my two cents.
I’m so freaking happy MCR is back! My inner pre-teen fangirl is crying out in joy, and hoping they top the charts freaking soon.

Really. There is no argument. Miley is famous because of her father and a tv channel. My Chemical Romance is… Amazing. Four(formerly five) Jersey boys, roughing it to do what they believe, to help people through their music. Miley is a horrible role model, and I hope my brother doesn’t get in to her, like my friends brother did. The kid is ALREADY imitating Miley, and is a total brat. Gerard is an amazing singer and would never dream of being a phony lip synching… grown man:) Plus he is awesome.

Everyone in MCR is an artist. They create real art. It is beautiful and life saving, whereas Miley Cyrus tries to sing, is autotuned, and then smokes salvia (which is bot yet illegal and not frowned upon in my eyes, but is clearly frowned upon in many of her fans eyes, although they constantly forget that.) Gerard Way used to be a drunk but got sober because he realized what he was doing to his life. Miley doesn’t write her own songs, but it doesn’t really matter if she does or doesn’t because they are sucky lyrics. Don’t try to mess with MCR. They have real fans that look up to them and will defend them however they possibly can. You mess with the MCRmy, we will tie you down and poke you with sporks and force you to listen to nothing but Miley Cyrus until you admit that she can’t sing… Can’t swim, can’t dance and don’t know karate (MCR reference – look it up)
