Nick Jonas And The Administration Labeled A Musical Disaster

December 31, 2010 |  by

Rolling Stone magazine named Nick Jonas and the Administration as one of the 11 Biggest Musical Disasters of 2010. Here’s what the magazine wrote:

“His first solo album was ambitiously titled Who I Am, just as his back-up band was ambitiously dubbed ‘The Administration.’ But it had no hits and no pop appeal, selling only 150,000 copies, as the once-lovesick little girls of America recoiled. With Biebermania on the rise, the JoBros will have to rely on their musical talent to stay afloat, and it just wasn’t audible on this album. Get cracking, Bros.”

Yikes! What do you think about this?

  1. i totally disagree

  2. I think this review is garbage!!! Whenever someone releases a first album it never does amazing. The songs were real and that’s all that matters to Jonas fans. Critics for magazines just care about how much money something makes not the quality of the work and therefore have no right to judge albums so harshly!

  3. I think Rolling Stones need to keep thier opinions to themselves! If they think Nick Jonas and the Administration was a musical disaster, they don’t know great music!!! Honestly, I believe NJATA is wayyyy better than Justin Bieber anyday!!!

  4. They are just haters!!! The album was amazing!!!

  5. I think that is quite harsh being they didn’t really say the music was bad. If not selling makes it a horrible album then why bother with ballots for the Grammys, just give thos trophys to billboard’s top sellers.
One thing though is, I do have to agree that it was not very PoPish, that is because it was better than that, unfortunately his audience was still young and this came in the heals of a possible band break up and Bieber fever.
Not to mention he only had about a month to promote and as soon as it was out he was back working with his brothers.
I loved the album and still listen to it today, literally. It had some great songs, but again I seriously doubt kids under 13 could really appreciate it much less enjoy it. Today it’s all about the dance beats and this album wasn’t made for dancing.

  6. It is just a rumor because nick Jonas did a great job with the administrations!!!

  7. I think this:

    justin bieber SUCKS!!!

    JONAS RULES!!!!!!!

    SOUTH AMERICA LOVES JONAS BROTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE JONAS BROTHERS ARE MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH BETTER THAN bieber

  8. Oh my GOD!! I seriously cannot believe some stupid 16 yr kid who hasn’t hit puberty yet, Is going to out do JB! I’m sorry but the Jonas brothers are full of pure talent and dedication…they do what they do because they love it unlike beiber who only wants to get the money and win awards…dude it’s not all about winning…jb has worked very hard to get to where they are and they will continue to be great because of ther love of the music not the money nor awards sooo sorry beiber enjoy it while it lasts but God knows who really deserves to be on top and it’s not you……

Finally got tht off of my chest! Phew!

  9. i have one thing to tell you guys. you are complete idiots.
nick jonas’s album may not have been the best album but there is no need to critize it in anyway. they have a great musical talent along with INCREDIBLE albums.

    i love you nick jonas <3 x

  10. Im 16 and I love the Jonas Brothers. They have so much talent compared to Justin Bieber. When Nick announced he was doing a side project with The Administration I couldn’t wait for him to release an album.I believe every single track is fantastic and is so original compared to most other artists.
Most people who are Justin Bieber fans are over crazed children who are not able to apriciate the amount of effort and talent it has gone in to produce such an amazing album.
I hope this isn’t the last of Nick Jonas & The Administration as I would love them to come to the United Kingdom.

    Jonas Brothers FTW!

  11. Seriously. This is just a load of rubbish. Anyone with any sense knows that Justin Bieber is a music disaster and Who I Am is a really great album, showcasing Nick at his best.

Quite disappointed the Jonas Brothers didn’t come to England on their world tour, I absolutely love them.

    I also agree with Ale.

  12. this is some bull ! I think the album was awesome and I love how original and creative the songs were. screw Rolling stones.

  13. Rolling Stone has no talent, only making money off of other people’s fame and fortune. Critics in general are miserable, and have no value except to put their word above everyone else. Yikes, I’m sounding like a critic! Nick is very successful and will do just find.

  14. Y were his administration tours sold out……if his songs were horrible or a ‘disaster’ as mentioned by the rolling stone mag

  15. I agree with everyone else. Just because these so-called “critics” say that albums are “musical disasters” doesn’t mean they actually are. Now-a-days, it’s not about talent, but money.
“Musicians” are using auto-tune for their not-so-pleasant voices, talented music artists, actors/actresses, and etc. aren’t getting the recognition they deserve, and award shows are slowly turning into popularity contests. Justin Bieber has talent, but in my opinion, his talent isn’t worth all that’s being done for him. No, I’m not a “hater” because I have a right to not like someone’s music. I just simply think that people underestimate other people’s talent.

  16. I saw a similar comment in print. What rubbish. My daughter loves it and I enjoy it. Best wishes to Nick and his brothers. Keep the music coming.

  17. So what if it only sold 150,000 copies and had no major hits? Thats not what music should be about!
In my opinion, this album is ten times better than Justin Bieber’s and unlike most other artists, not completely over-produced! The music on this album is absolutely amazing, the lyrics are so mature for someone so young, and are so true…they come from the heart. Someone didn’t say, “Write me a hit song.” This is something that Nick decided to do this on his own, in order to grow as an artist and exhibit his own musical style, uninfluenced by a record label. Its the type of music that he truly enjoys writing and performing.
Thats all I have to say. Im a musician as well, and I couldn’t care less how my music compares to Justin Bieber! As long as I know that I have spoken to someone through it, and inspired them in some way, shape or form, I am happy.
Nick is extremely talented, despite the opinion of Rolling Stone, because Rolling Stone obviously does not know what music is really about if they are telling him that he “Didn’t have any hits”. And I know he has inspired someone, me (and I’m sure I’m not the only one) and therefore, he should keep doing what he’s doing…Cause I know he’s making people happy.

  18. That was TRE harsh. Beiber wouldn’t know talent if it bit him in the damn nose!! As for Nick he obviously worked REALLY hard. If it was such a disaster WHY did it sell SO good? And why why WHY did ROLLING STUPID DUMB stone put HIM on the FRONT COVER? JEALOUS!!!

Rolling stone: In the future get a grip before you go smashing someone who just started with his side project i have no respect for their stupid magizine anymore especially defending BIEBER WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING!!!
