Happy 70th Birthday Hayao Miyazaki January 5, 2011

Today, January 5th, is animation director Hayao Miyazaki’s 70th birthday. The famous director was born in Japan in 1941 and has teamed up with the Walt Disney Company to release a number of animated movies, including “Ponyo,” which starred the voices of Noah Cyrus and Frankie Jonas.

In addition to being a director, Hayao is also an acclaimed screenwriter, animator, character designer, and storyboard artist. Hayao also founded the animation studio Studio Ghibli.
