Regis Philbin Leaving “Live With Regis And Kelly” Because Of A Salary Cut

January 23, 2011 • By

According to sources, Regis Philbin, one of the co-hosts of the hit ABC talk show “Live With Regis and Kelly,” is leaving the show after this summer because execs from ABC told his agent, Jim Griffin, that they were planning on cutting his salary after his current contract expired. Regis would supposedly have been receiving the cut in pay because the show is not performing as well as it has in the past and because he takes a lot of time off, leaving co-host Kelly Ripa to host the show with guest hosts.

It is being reported that Regis currently makes between $18-$20 million a year, and apparently anything less than that isn’t good enough for the star. In addition, Regis has fired his agent as he felt he did not work hard enough to make sure he kept his salary at the same level on “Live With Regis and Kelly” – yikes!
