“Tangled” Directors Reuniting For New Disney Movie

January 27, 2011 |  by

The directors who worked on Disney’s animated movie “Tangled,” Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, have teamed up for a new animated Disney movie. The two have been pitching ideas to John Lasseter since the time they were still working on “Tangled.” Here’s what Byron revealed:

We actually love working together. When you work on these films for so long and so intensely, when you get to the end of them suddenly there’s nothing to do. Once you’re done with the film it’s almost like empty nest syndrome, your kid has moved out of the house. You see directors spin you a year, year-and-a-half looking for the next project to do. About six months ago Nathan and I said, ‘Let’s not do that, let’s make sure we have something cooking.’ We pitched six ideas to John Lasseter and he said, ‘This idea is great, this idea is great. What if you mushed them together?’

According to Byron, the new movie will be like nothing anybody has ever seen before.

The thing it will share with Tangled is it’ll have great action, memorable characters and emotion in a world you’ve never seen before.

We can’t wait to learn more!

  1. This worries me when one of their top priorities is for it to have “great action.” So the story and music can be completely lame, just as long as it has swashbuckling peril and things blowing up in your face? Tangled was OK, only because they had the brains to keep Glen’s stuff intact. Bolt, on the other hand, could have been much more emotional and appealing, if only they got rid of half a dozen chase/explosion scenes. And Lasseter’s idea of “mushing together” six different ideas sounds very cluttered to me. Oh well, we’ll see what it is in due time.
