Billy Ray Cyrus had no problem being honest when it came to his recent interview with GQ Magazine. Billy Ray revealed that the Disney Channel Original Series “Hannah Montana” that he and his daughter, Miley Cyrus, worked on for four seasons didn’t do any good for his family.
During the interview Billy Ray was told that “Hannah Montana” probably brought a lot of families together, but was then asked if he thought that the show played a big role in his family drifting apart. Here’s Billy Ray’s answer:
Oh, it’s huge—it destroyed my family. I’ll tell you right now—the da** show destroyed my family. And I sit there and go, ‘Yeah, you know what? Some gave all.’ It is my motto, and guess what? I have to eat that one. I some-gave-all’d it all right. I some-gave-all’d it while everybody else was going to the bank. It’s all sad.
So, does Billy Ray wish “Hannah Montana” never happened?
I hate to say it, but yes, I do. Yeah. I’d take it back in a second. For my family to be here and just be everybody okay, safe and sound and happy and normal, would have been fantastic. Heck, yeah. I’d erase it all in a second if I could.

Absolutely right! Disney did this to the Cyrus family. Don’t even try to blame Miley for going psycho and doing bong. That’s not her fault. If she wasn’t Hannah Montana, that would never have happened. And don’t blame Billy Ray for any of this. He’s just the father. Fathers of minors shouldn’t be watching them and keeping them out of trouble, partying in bars, doing drugs, getting tattoos. Once a child turns 12, fathers should just trust their kid’s judgement and let them be.

you kind of have to agree with him. his family and the press are having a tough time right now. i understand that he doesn’t wanna be blamed. and think, if you were in his position… what would you do? and would u really do it?
I feel bad for Billy and his family, but I think he had a right to come out and share his feelings. Miley’s attitude changed. She started partying, using drugs, getting rebellious, etc. and Trish was cheating on him. So he’s angry…step in his shoes and try to imagine that. Out of control daughter+cheating wife=family torn apart and anger. I feel for him, i really do. I’ll tell you now, I’m 14 and I know better than what she’s doing. And whatever was said about after the age of 12 fathers should trust their kids judgement, well that’s not true. If you’re a kid who said that, then that’s just what you want most likely. As a kid we absorb things easily, good and bad. Your parents are supposed to help you and set restrictions. You’re not grown, so you need to have those restrictions. And its not Disney’s fault for her going crazy!!! She chose it. I mean did Disney tell her to go and do all that??? I don’t think so.

I think I’m on miley’s side in this. She’s blown her top, but I don’t think it gives Billy the right to say nasty things about his daughter. We all make mistakes. I think he is being a bit too hard on Miley at the moment. I still love Billy. I love his music and his acting, and he had the right to be a little angry, because of all the stuff his family is going through right now, but I think they’re just all going over the top. It hurts more when you let that stuff get in your way. I wish the Cyrus family the best.
I don’t think that the Disney channel show did this to Miley Cyrus. Maybe there wasn’t enough family support or something else. But anything could have cause to act out. Maybe she felt stressed because of all the camaras or maybe there were friend problems. Idk maybe people should ask her with anyone around her so she can answer truthfully. Maybe she just couldnt hand the spotlight.
I think Billy was just acting out of anger, he probably didn’t mean to say those hurtful things about his daughter. As for Miley, I’ve always liked her, but I think Disney creates a “Too Perfect” image for these young stars, and I can only imagine how stressful that must be, to try to live up to everyone’s expectations of you.
Also just wanted to comment on what Tay said, that was really awesome what you said about children needing their parents. That’s highly commendable for a 14 year old to proudly say that, and you are so right. : )
