2011 Oscar Academy Awards Viewer Numbers Down From 2010

March 2, 2011 |  by

The Oscar Academy Awards aired on the ABC Television Channel last weekend and while 37.6 million people tuned in to watch, the show’s viewer numbers were still down 9.8% from the 2010 awards show. In 2010 41.7 million viewers tuned in for the Oscars.

Do you think ABC made the right decision to extend its contract with the Oscars until 2020, or do you think the viewer numbers will continue to decrease in the coming years?

Did you tune in for the Oscars this year? What did you think?

  1. I don’t think that ABC made the right decision to extend its contract with the Oscar until 2020 because the Oscar is the biggest academy award. I’m afraid if ABC don’t broadcast the Oscar, the viewer will decrease. I think this year is successful, the hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco were funny, especially at the beginning. If the Oscar can keep this funny emotion, I think the viewer will increase.
