ABC Cancels “All My Children” And “One Life To Live”
ABC has canceled two of its soap operas “All My Children” and “One Life to Live.” ABC plans to put new shows in their place as of September 2011 when “All My Children” goes off the air and January 2012 when “One Life To Live” ends.
ABC will introduce a new show called “The Chew” in place of “All My Children.” The show will be about food and will be hosted by a number of celebrities, including:
- Mario Batali, restaurant owner
- Michael Symon, restaurant owner
- Carla Hall, “Top Chef”
- Clinton Kelly “What Not To Wear”
- Daphne Oz, nutrition expert
In place of “One Life To Live” will be a new show called “The Revolution.” The new show will help viewers to transform all areas of their lives, from relationships to family, food, style, home design, finance and more! The show will feature Project Runway’s Tim Gunn, trainer Harley Pasternak and “American Idol” star Kimberly Locke.

I will not watch this channel again, One Life to Live is a great show and should not be cancelled!
This is the dumbest move for Disney/ABC Brian Frons and Disney will only provide TV for younger viewers. Discrimate against anyone middle age and older. It is sad but the truth said in their own statements. Frons set the soaps up to fail and when Disney bought ABC that was always their plan. Thousands laid off and they don’t care not even a return call about what the viewers want. I will no longer be watching ABC/Disney and since the news all ratings for ABC have dropped a lot and as we grow which is happening fast they will continue to drop and I hope Frons will soon be fired. Disney is equally to blame and I will not be watching any of their shows, buying their movies or taking any trips. The cute disney movies are great but behind those movies are some really awful people who think this is all a big joke. We will be protesting ABC/Disney and boycotting all there shows. They want cheap reality garbage to pocket more advertising dollars and not paying for cast members. One LIfe to Live got 3rd place in the ratings so ratings is not what they care about. It is all about how much money they can make out of the deal. It makes me sick how they are ruining real TV and taking away 40+ years of part of our lives.
They make comments like stay at home moms have gone back to work. First of all what a sexist thing to say along with not wanting older viewers. People dedicated their lives to watching this show. Do you really think that The Chew about a fat slob who teaches America’s how to get fatter by the way who has a lawsuit out against him for stealing other peoples ideas. Sounds original! There are hundreds of lifestyle shows on all day and night long. ABC is going to lose the 20 million fans per week that watch these soaps. Men do watch the show, teens, young adults, senior citizens and people of all ages. Shocking our Mickey Mouse Disney has bought out ABC and is destroying ABC. I will no longer be watching ABC their lack of concern for what the viewers want is so unprofessional.
ABC!!! I strongly urge you to reconsider what you are about to loose.. I have strongly placed my anger of this decision all over every comment post… You are so setting your self up for a decline, downfall, as viewers will stop watching ABC.. AMC and OTL is our family. They are a part of our everyday lives that is just like a family tradition handed down from generation to generation. These are the only long life standing shows that you will not ever be able to replace dedication to your network and viewers. Not to mention the dedication of all those who have played their rolls on these shows.. You are acting like someone who is going through change of life syndrome and think the grass is greener on the other side.. Wrong.. remember the grass is not always watered on the other side of the fence.. As most people are sick and tired of all these reality TV shows. You are going to find your self scrambling and scraping to find new shows to fill those slots and try to measure up to these iconic shows. I assure you will will not find the dedicated viewers to your network, day or night any longer. You are betraying the American People. Your sense of stragagy is off balance. Your own sponsors should be outraged to reaching the homes througout the US and abroad and they too will see a decline in their sales. Head my warning… do not do this.. Please to all others who work at ABC and value your job, get ready to be looking for jobs elsewhere because you are next as their will be a decline as they will not be able to pay you either.. Those who are at the top with ABC you really need to sit down and listen to your viewers comments.. Take your self out of the high seat you sit in and place yourself into the seats of all the faithful viewers, sponsors etc.. during these soaps for decades… to continue with this path you will the fault of not standing up and answering the plea of the faithful viewers and the fall of ABC.. This is not mellow drama, this is the truth! You are killing off an iconic family viewing that can not be replaced AT ALL. Remember, you have new mothers watching as they are starting a family and nursing their children. Putting children down for a nap and taking a break of relaxation, do you know people will even take their lunch breaks around these two soaps while working. This is quiet time around everyones home. You also have college students watching, high school students who walk through the door to replay what they just missed. Elederly who take that time to forget everyday life to enter the lives of others even just for a short time. These actors and actresses aon these soaps are part of all our lives. Farmers/Ranchers take this time to come in for a relaxing break. People all around tape these shows and will not miss an episode. Even I will search the web to watch a missed episode. Review all your on line TV to see the viewers searching for these two shows.. Huge… Huge MISTAKE>>> I turly wished it would be possible for another Network to choose to pick up these actors in the same soap name and forum to carry on the tradition as they will gain your viewers and you will find.. the huge mistake you made.
I ask that you re-consider taking All My Children off. I am tired of talk shows and reality shows. I will stop watching anything on ABC if this happens. To the top executives-haven’t you made enough money? Then why stop a good thing.If this many people are upset over taking these soaps off the air then why not re-consider and keep your pockets full. I have been unemployed for 2 years-no chance of finding a job at the age of 59-I plan my day around All My Children so I don’t miss a day. I don’t watch the talk shows they are sometimes depressing-people arguing with each other. I have enough drama in my life. I ask that you do the right thing-keep the public happy.
I think someone has lost their mind! This very wrong. Do you really think that a cooking show, or a reality show, or a do it yourself show will actually be watched. I am so sick of this type show that I could puke! I have watched these two soaps since Erica’s first wedding! My mother got me started watching these two shows and I have been a loyal view ever since. I was about 10 and That was many moons ago! I am like so many others that have vowed to stop watching ABC altogether if you take these two shows off the air, like you are saying that you will do. If another station takes them up, I will go to that station. ABC has had all the best shows on the air, it is about the only station that I watch, but that may soon change too. Do you really want ABC to start going down hill? It will, I am sure, if you start chopping you’re best Soaps. What makes you think that General Hospital, is worth keeping? I sure don’t watch it. All I can say is, “Go ahead and chop these two soaps, and loose more viewers that you can count and watch ABC drop in all areas! Who ever thought up cutting these two soaps should be fired!!!
This cannot happen! We need another Food and/or Lifestyle show like we need another hole in our head! No More! They will FLOP. Soap Fans are a huge group who are totally faithful as illustrated by all the years the Soaps have been on. These soaps are Recorded by most of us who work so that we can watch them after hours. These numbers are even counted! How can such a horrid decision be made? Not much else left on TV to watch…anything good are the ones cancelled. Whats up with these horrible decisions!? Pls keep them on TV somewhere!
I agree with everyone else. Who needs more cooking and reality shows. I have enough reality in my life. I have been watching AMC since I was a young housewife in the 70′s from the very first show. Please reconsider putting this soap on another network. I guarantee it will be watched by a lot of fans.
