Vanessa Hudgens Says Alex Pettyfer’s “Beastly” Makeup Was “Sexy”
While the makeup artists behind Alex Pettyfer’s face in the movie “Beastly” tried to make him look as unattractive as possible (which we all know is difficult!), Alex’s “Beastly” co-star Vanessa Hudgens couldn’t make herself think of him as anything but cute! Here’s what Vanessa revealed in an interview with the Metro about seeing Alex’s makeup for the first time:
They kept it a secret from me for as long as they could. And then one night he was just sitting there and I was in shock. It was haunting and fascinating. I thought there was something so mysterious and sexy about the way he looked.

I saw it, and I thought the make-up after he was “cursed” by the witch kind of made him look mutilated and hideous. That’s just me. Although it was a great modern adaptation of beastly. Anyone with many scars, piercings and tattoos on their body is usually looked down upon by the “norm” of society and especially rejected by the upper class society. In all, I thought it was a clever and twisted modification on this classic tale.
I agree with Vanessa; his makeup was fascinating and haunting but in a good way. Strangely enough, when the spell broke at the end I was a little sad.
